Our Story
Sometimes, you just have to reinvent yourself, and we’re no different!
Originally organized on December 28, 1931, we began as “Missouri State Credit Union.” Like all capricorns, from the get go we’ve been persistent, hardworking, and loyal to our members, but the name didn’t quite suit us. So, at a membership meeting on November 18, 1960, we adopted the name we bear to this day: Missouri Central Credit Union.
We kept on keeping on for another 30 or so years, but in September of ‘94 we felt it was time for another big change. Instead of a new name, we opted for a change of scenery, and so Missouri Central Credit Union relocated to Lee’s Summit! We were determined to get involved with our new community, and before we knew it we became part of Lee’s Summit’s thriving community. We’ve been here ever since.
Hard to believe another 30 years has gone by! We’re grateful to everyone who’s been part of our journey so far, and we look forward to welcoming even more members to our credit union, our community, and our story.
We are Missouri Central Credit Union, a member-owned not-for-profit financial cooperative based in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Our Board of Directors are volunteers elected by credit union members at our annual membership meeting. Each and every member is an owner of the credit union, so every decision we make is with our members interests in mind.
